Wheat cleaning is an important part of flour milling process, and the purpose of grain cleaning is to clean up the grain surface. In all the types of grain cleaning machines, Grain Scourer is a common type cleaning machine for wheat cleaning process.  There are generally two ways to clean up the surface of wheat. One is dry cleaning and the other is wet cleaning. Dry cleaning is related to wheat scourer and wheat brush machine. Wet cleaning is related to wheat washer.

Working Priciples of Grain Scourer

Grain scourer is also known as wheat beater. When the grain scourer is running, high-speed rotating metal playing board will keep hitting the wheat. The wheat will impact on the fixed toothed face and steel mesh sieve time and again. The grains also rub against each other, so that to separate the impurities from the surface of wheat. Meanwhile, some low strength impurities such as clod, cinder, pests and other broken or metamorphic grain will be crushed and be screened out through sieving and winnowing.

After screening, removing stones, winnowing and magnetic separation, most of the impurities mixed in the grains are cleared. But the dust, wheat hair, microorganism, worm eggs, mud and sand in the abdominal ditch of wheat, worm-eaten and bad wheat are still mixed in the wheat. Before flour milling or grinding, these impurities needed to be cleaned up by wheat scouring machine or wheat beater. Otherwise they will mix in the flour and affect the color, ash content and taste of the finished flour.
